I'm having trouble keeping my nails. Constantly breaking them. I try wearing gloves as much as I can but they still break. I've used different strenghners, polish etc. Any alternatives? suggestions?
Hi Terry, I have been coming out of a bad nail season. They seem to linger on for months. As I have playing obligations, I often need to use a fake nail (acrylic) or use silk wrap glued to my actual nail with super glue to strengthen it. Both of these options weaken the overall health of the nail and they continue in that vicious cycle. Here is something I have been using for a couple of weeks now. I am using several times a day and I am starting to see very good results.

Even if you have to repair your nail with silk wrap and super glue, do it on half of the nail and apply this kind of creme to the rest of the nail. Welcome to one of the most frustrating aspect of playing the guitar.
You can try the cream that Tavi has suggested. It is very nice. However, it did not work well for me. Everyone has different nails. For the past year, I have been using Delore Nail Oil and Hardener. For me, this has worked extremely well. My finger nails used to be paper thin and I had to use fake nails or use the silk that was mentioned. But after using this oil, my nails are much thicker and rarely break. Sometimes, they have peeled slightly when I do something with my hand that used to break the nail. So, this tells me they are very pliable now. Unfortunately, this does not work for my thumb. I still use a fake nail attached by a non toxic glue dot. The wound strings are too damaging for my thumb nail. If the cream does not work, try the Delore also on Amazon. Good luck
Thanks for the input. Can you add a link to the actual product? I could give it a try myself.
@TaviJinariu
Tavi. I cannot create a link from my iPad. So I took a screen shot from Amazon. I have had great success with this product. I use it twice a day. I apply it both on the nail and below the tip. Then rub it in until it is dry. Don’t have patience to wait for oil to dry. Hope it works for you
Thank you Gentlemen , for your quick reply! I will try these options.
