Hi
i have seriously injured my left index finger and although my first thought was that i would have to give up playing guitar i think i should use this as an opertunity to develop finger independence. i am now practising Giuliani’s right hand studies using only pointer, ring and pinky on my left hand. it is very akward and a little boring doing c and g7 over and over with only these 3 fingers.
can anyone think of other exercises or tunes i could play using only 3 fingers?
thanks for any imput.
George
Hi dleagjeld. Thanks for the suggestion of Carcassi 3, I’ll give it a try tonight. I have been playing around with Andante by Sor. It is doable with patience.
The injury I have is a deep cut across the pad of my finger about 1/2 inch below the tip. There is no feeling in that area now. It is rather curious to play a note and not be able to feel the string. Hopefully the feeling will come back.
I have been doing chromatic scales with no open strings, making different shifting patterns with three fingers.
Knowing you have a far worse injury and still play is very encouraging.
Thanks
Hi George sorry to hear about your finger. I have a partially amputated index finger on my fretting hand so I definitely can feel your pain. Can you tell us more about the mobility of your finger does it work at all. One song I was thinking of is the carassi no 3 study.
