At the request of my little cousin, Luke, a talented young musician, I (reluctantly) agreed to record a piece on the classical guitar when we visited our family this past December.
For those that know me well, I have always been rather shy when it comes to sharing music with others as I have never viewed myself as a performer or as particularly gifted. Nevertheless, lately I have come to recognize the role that God has used music to minister to my own soul in the last couple of years, especially in the wake of my 26 year old cousin's death in late 2015. Shortly after this, I decided to learn how to play the classical guitar and started doing so on my own until I crossed paths with Tavi and this website. Now two years later, I feel that, perhaps, I should start making an effort to bless others in like manner as the Elite Guitarist team (and many others) have blessed me.
Steve, I just watched your video and had to let you know that, in my opinion, you are both a performer and are gifted! I really enjoyed listening and watching you play - it was beautiful, genuine, and I could feel the emotion. I also thought the quality of the recording was great - thanks for sharing!
Steve, Steve! I loved reading the story that helped fuel your guitar playing! I am so sorry for you loss but I am so glad you were able to find some comfort in playing the guitar. This is such a beautiful piece to begin with and your playing is beautiful. Keep up the good work and stop telling yourself you are not a performer; you play very well and can be a blessing to many others around you through your guitar playing. 2 Cor. 1:3-4
Thank you for your kind words, dleagjeld. My little cousin (seen in the video) used a simple recording setup that he put together to record it, but there was something that caused the guitar to sound "metallic"-- as if I had been playing on a steel string guitar. I really did not like that, so for this video, I just decided to go with the audio (and video) from my wife's iPhone X. In all honesty, I was pleasantly surprised with the results.
That sounds great. If you have only been playing guitar for a couple of years that is amazing. I listened over a nice set of monitors and the recording quality is top notch makes me want to practice that song.
