My name is Kevin and I’m from Atlanta Ga. Now that I’m retired, I’ve decided to try and learn how to play the classical guitar. I have played guitar on and off as a hobby for several years but, due to my career, did not devote the time required to make any real progress. I’m an absolute beginner, somewhat musically illiterate, and don’t read music; however, the passion is there and I’m already making progress thanks to the “Beginning Technique Package”.
After seeing the level of quality from the free tutorials from several instructors, I became very interested. After watching the YouTube video of Tavi playing Farewell by Sergio Assad, I was hooked! Is he really available as one of my instructors – wow!
I am thankful this website is available and am amazed and appreciate that I can learn from such World Class instructors – all are incredible and have great teaching skills. The tutorials are exactly what I was looking for and I love watching the included performances.
My immediate goal is to learn basics, develop tone, and learn Lagrima, followed by Romanza, Adelita, and Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.
Long range goals – Farewell by Sergio Assad, Macedonian Girl by Miroslav Tadic; and, to hear my wife someday say, “Wow, that sounds great Kevin!”.
Hi Kevin! Welcome to EliteGuitarist. It is a joy to have you on the platform and thanks for taking a few moments to introduce yourself. It's definitely never too late to take up playing the guitar again. As you become more comfortable with these pieces, post a recording for us so that we can keep up with your progress. A little bit at a time, a little progress each day and when you put it all together you will realize you have made significant progress. I always encourage my students to record themselves and archive the recordings; these recordings will serve as a great encouragement whenever you look in the rearview mirror of your guitar playing. Keep up the good work!
Good advice!
Wellcome, Kevin¡¡ Be very patient with yourself (and with your wife), meanwhile.😉
